It is a common misconception that the JZA80 Supra is a straight line only car.  Quite the contrary.  In my opinion it was designed as a sports-GT that just happens to be popular in drag racing.  But for now, my budget does not allow me to follow Toyota's intention for this car -road racing.  It is simply to large of an investment to end up like this.

To date, my fastest and quickest time is 12.36 @ 119.64 mph, not too bad for an automagic Supra on street tires.  Hopefully with a little more practice, cooler weather, and my BFG drag radials, I can whittle that time down to the low 12- or high 11-second range or become a member of the 120.00 mph club.

All the timeslips listed below are in chronological order, the top being the first run of the day and so forth . . .

Videos ::

I have some small videos that can be downloaded here:

My 12.465 @ 119.14 mph run vs Logan in his 6-speed BPU+++ (fmic, cam gears, and s-afc) Supra. He tree'd me bad with the aide of ET streets and good 6-speed launch but I caught up with him at the big end with my 119 mph trap vs his 118 mph.

My 12.489 @ 118.57 mph run against Jimmy P with his white TO4R-powered 6-speed Supra.

Hooked up well on the second run, but it started getting loose when the 2nd turbo kicked in so I had to back out, hence the low trap speed.

12.661 @ 116.83 mph

Why they have drag racing in the heat of summer, I haven't the slightest, but one look at the trap speeds and one can see the difference that heat makes in power production. I had a good run, neck and neck, with Peter Farrell's turbocharged IS300 until he barely pulled me at the big end. It was the only race we didn't get on video. =\ I was fairly consistent that day . . . would have done well bracket racing. =)

12.426 @ 119.46 mph
12.528 @ 115.15 mph

It was hot and miserable. To make things worse, Battle of the Imports ran a horribly slow operation, unsure at times at which classes would be running. Therefore we had to wait in staging lines all day, from mid-afternoon until around 11 pm.

This was my first time to the track with the FMIC and race gas. I completely annhilated the tires on the first run -probably 1000 miles worth. =) The second run of the night is my best run to date in both ET and mph -odd.
